Ronnye Perry Sharp of Tecumseh used nine prominent Oklahomans on the cover of her 576-page book, “Oklahoma’s Historical Centennial Cookbookâ (Tate Publishing & Enterprises, $39.99), including Gov. Brad Henry and Kim Henry, plus country music stars, sports figures and others. The cookbook has photos of the Henrys throughout and includes Oklahoma history and recipes from famous residents including Barry Switzer, Toby Keith, the Henrys, Boone Pickens, Reba McEntire, Hal Smith, Vince Gill, state politicians and others. Recipes from a few of the state’s chefs and many just-plain-good cooks are included. Historical glimpses of American Indian tribes, the energy industry, baseball, our state universities and more are included, accompanied by hundreds of photos. Bob Burke was contributing author for this celebratory mixture of Oklahoma history, famous Oklahomans and recipes. The book is at bookstores or order online at tatepublishing.com, amazon.com, target.com or barnesandnoble.com. A portion of the book proceeds will go to cancer and muscular dystrophy research.
